In the main award, Justin Rose has made the top 12. Justin has been shortlisted for his amazing win at the 2013 US Open at Merion. He was the first British winner of this trophy in 43 years. But like many golf fans I fear that Justin will be pipped to the trophy by Andy Murray, who ended 77 years of hurt by becoming the first British male to win Wimbledon.
This video is a reminder of the thrilling last round, and the amazing 4 iron that Justin hit on the 18th, from near the Ben Hogan plaque. He knew that Mickelson was already in with a great score, and he had to nail it!
There is also a great article on the Daily Telegraph website that provides a unique personal perspective from Justin on this victory. You can read it here:

But Justin Rose is not the only golfer who could win an award this year.
Golf is also going to be represented by one of it’s bright new stars. Charley Hull, the Ladies European Tour rookie and star of the Solheim Cup, has made the long list for the Young Sports Personality of the Year. Just imagine, you are 17 years of age, a rookie on tour, you get picked to play for the Solheim Cup, and then on the last day, you beat your childhood hero Paula Creamer. It’s the stuff of dreams and Hollywood script writers. She was such a hero that apparently Charley actually asked for her autograph after the match!
I hope that both golfers can succeed at the Awards Ceremony, if you want to vote on the night via the BBC website – you can use this link:
